Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 Maxwell House Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished 15th in Sunday’s 500-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. Bowyer started 14th and reported a very loose handling race car while driving into the top 10. Handling issues kept him from staying at the front, however, he avoided tire problems that ruined several drivers’ races. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver remained on the lead lap until 60 laps to go, but managed to hold on to a top-15 finish. The No.15 team returns to action Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway.

  • Started 14th and finished 15th
  • Battled a loose handling race car
  • Lost a lap late in the race but held on for a 15th-place finish

BOWYER: “That was a hard fought top 15. The guys were great in the pits. I was so loose and was just trying to hold on to it. Proud of everyone though. Everyone battled through it today.”

David Ragan Race Summary: No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota driver David Ragan finished 23rd in Sunday’s 500-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 15th but a collision coming to pit lane during the lap 24-lap caution forced Ragan to make an extra stop for front-end repairs. Handling issues plagued the No. 55 during the first half of the race, dropping Ragan two laps behind the leaders. Although Ragan and the team improved the car throughout the race, he could not get the cautions needed to return to the lead lap in the race’s final stages. Ragan and the No. 55 Aaron’s team return to action Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway.

  • Started 15th and finished 23rd
  • Suffered front-end damage coming to pit lane on lap 24
  • Battled handling issues in the first half of the race
  • Could not make up lost laps in second half of race

RAGAN: “We worked on our Aaron’s Dream Machine all day long and seemed to get it better late in the race. Just wish we could have got back on the lead lap. We sure didn’t get many cautions there at the end. That’s a long tough race and the track bit a lot of people today.”

  • Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag 1.082 seconds ahead of Brad Keselowski
  • Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, and Carl Edwards rounded out the top five
  • Nine cautions slowed the race for 47 laps
