Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished 11th in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Bowyer started 23rd and slowly worked his way through the field despite losing and regaining a lap to the leaders just after the halfway mark. As the race wound down the No. 15 picked up the pace, climbing into the top 10 and even leading lap 234. No.15 team returns to action Sunday at Kansas Speedway, Bowyer’s home track.

BOWYER: “Man we worked hard today. We weren’t very good at the beginning and even got a lap down. But we kept trying and by the time the race ended I think we were really good. I hope we can be this good from the start at Kansas next week.”

 

David Ragan Race Summary: No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota driver David Ragan finished 37th in Sunday’s 500-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 19th and quickly showed the No. 55 was one of the fastest cars on the track especially on long green-flag runs. Ragan climbed to 11th by lap 60 and pitted from 14th with just 54 laps remaining. However, a broken jack slowed the pit stop then a few laps later engine problems ended Ragan’s day leaving him with a 37th-place finish. Ragan and the No. 55 Aaron’s team return to action Sunday at Kansas Speedway.

  • No. 55 was fast throughout race especially on long green flag runs.
  • Broken jack with 54 to go costs Ragan time on pit lane
  • Engine problems ended his race a few laps later.

 

RAGAN: “We had a great car today and the pit stops were awesome; it seemed like I gained a few spots each stop. At the end, we had a jack break and then, just like in the 600 in May something let go in the engine. It’s disappointing to say the least. I think we were going to get a really good finish.”

  • Martin Truex Jr. Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch rounded out the top five
