Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished 26th in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Bowyer started 26th and raced in 23rd when a caution brought most of the field to the pits with 60 laps remaining. Bowyer stayed out and moved to eighth for the restart. Optimism diminished a few laps later when an issue with his right front tire brought him to pit lane during green flag racing and dropped him off the lead lap. With no cautions in the final laps, Bowyer did not have an opportunity to regain the lost lap and finished 26th.  The No.15 team returns to action Sunday at Dover International Speedway.

  • Started 26th and finished 26th
  • Moved to eighth with 60 to go, but flat tire on restart dropped Bowyer off lead lap
  • Without a caution Bowyer could not regain the lost lap
  • Bowyer is 16th in the Chase standings – 39 points behind 12th-place driver
  • Four lowest scoring Chase drivers will be eliminated from competition after Sunday’s race in Dover.

BOWYER: “We were looking really good there riding eighth with 60 to go. I knew something was wrong and they guys said it was a tire going down. Nothing we could do after that. It’s disappointing for sure. We’ll go to Dover and do our best to win the race.”

David Ragan Race Summary: No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota driver David Ragan finished 41st in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 18th and held that position in the early going. On lap 133, Ragan reported a possible cut tire and pitted. The unscheduled stop dropped him down a lap to the leaders, but he returned to the lead lap just past the halfway mark on lap 158. Ragan’s day ended on lap 204 when he collided with Danica Patrick’s spinning car after she hit the wall. Ragan and the No. 55 Aaron’s team return to action Sunday at Dover International Speedway.

  • Started 18th and finished 41st
  • Cut tire forced unscheduled pit stop and dropped Ragan a lap off the leaders
  • Earned free pass back to the lead lap just past the halfway mark
  • Day ended on lap 204 when he hit the spinning car of Danica Patrick

RAGAN: “That was a hard hit. Thankful to the NASCAR safety initiatives over the years – everything is good to go. We had had kind of a rocky day in our Aaron’s Toyota – had an unscheduled pit stop earlier, got the Lucky Dog and felt like we had just kind of gotten back in rhythm. I saw the 10 car (Danica Patrick) and I was just hoping she would hold onto her brakes and maybe not come back down the track as quick and as violent as she did. I guess if I wouldn’t have hit her, she would have probably hit the inside wall, but all in all I’m good to go.”

RACE NOTES

  • Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag 8.941 seconds ahead of Denny Hamlin
  • Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards rounded out the top-five
