Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished sixth in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started seventh and appeared headed for a long day when he slid through the grass on lap 51. The damage even dropped Bowyer off the lead lap. His Michael Waltrip Racing team never gave up and kept improving the car throughout the race. Bowyer returned to the lead lap on lap 92 then used multiple cautions at the end of the race to his advantage earning his eighth top-10 finish of the season. The No. 15 team returns to action Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

  • Started seventh and finished sixth
  • Spun on lap 51 damaging his car and losing a lap
  • Regained lost lap on lap 92
  • Pit strategy in the final laps along with a fast car led to eighth top-10 in 2015

BOWYER: “What a day and what a recovery. I can't say enough about (crew chief) Billy (Scott) and the guys. My 5-hour ENERGY Toyota was good today especially on long runs. We had some damage early and did a good job repairing it and getting back after it. Just real proud of the effort and our finish today.”

David Ragan Race Summary: No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine driver David Ragan finished 21st in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started third and quickly showed the No. 55 was one of the fastest cars on the track. Ragan and a few of the leaders used a different pit strategy throughout the second half of the race. That strategy enabled Ragan to lead twice for five laps and take advantage of the car’s speed in clean air. It appeared he’d be a contender for the victory. Those hopes faded with 18 laps to go when an untimely debris caution after a green flag pit stop left Ragan stuck in traffic at the back of the field. Multiple cautions in the closing laps kept him from moving forward. Ragan and the No. 55 Aaron’s team return to action Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

  • Started third and finished 21st
  • One of the fastest cars on the track in clean air
  • Led twice for five laps
  • Bid for victory ended with untimely caution with 18 laps remaining

RAGAN: “We are so disappointed with our finish because we know how good of car we had today. We were up front, led some laps and everyone knows our Aaron’s Dream Machine was in the race. But, we didn’t get the breaks we needed with the caution flag today. If we keep running this fast good things will happen.”
