Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 Cherry 5-hour ENERGY to benefit Special Operations Warrior Foundation Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished tenth in Sunday’s 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway. Bowyer started 32nd but rocketed up to the front in the opening laps. The No. 15 moved to 17th by lap 50 in a race that saw rain stop action four times. A quick pit stop on lap 126 vaulted Bowyer to 10th where he ran when the final rainstorm of the day brought the race to an end on lap 138 of the scheduled 200. The finish marks Bowyer’s fourth top-10 finish of 2015. Bowyer and the 5-hour ENERGY team enjoy an off weekend then return to action Sunday, June 28 at Sonoma Raceway.

  • Started 32nd and finished 10th
  • Gained 10 spots in the opening laps
  • Rain stopped race four times in 138 laps
  • Marks fourth top-10 finish of 2015

BOWYER: “We fought hard today. Wish we had been in a position to pull off the win and give the Special Operations Warrior Foundation $1 million, but we’ll take a top 10.”

David Ragan Race Summary: No.55 Aaron’s Dream Machine driver David Ragan finished 35th in Sunday’s 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 18th and held his own through the rain-plagued first half of the race. Weather stopped the race four times in 138 laps. Ragan fell off the lead lap at lap 95 then battled for the free pass for the next 40 laps. He moved into the free pass position late in the race by staying on the track during a caution. However, without a caution in the next few green flag laps he had to pit for fuel. The caution fell for rain a lap later dropping him two laps behind the leader. The race did not resume leaving Ragan with a 35th-place finish. Ragan and the Aaron’s Dream Machine enjoy an off weekend then return to action Sunday, June 28 at Sonoma Raceway.

  • Started 18th and finished 35th
  • Rain stopped the race four times in 138 laps
  • Fell off lead lap on lap 95
  • Stayed on track during caution to move into free pass spot but race stayed green until he pitted
  • Rain ended the race a few laps later

RAGAN: “I don’t think I have ever been part of a race that had so many rain delays. It would rain every time we got rolling. We were decent and just got down a lap there about halfway through the race. We gambled to get our lap back and the caution flag flew about a lap after we pitted. We were obviously better than where we finished. We just rolled this dice and luck wasn’t on our side today. But I like being aggressive. We’ll enjoy the off weekend and get ready to go to Sonoma.”

RACE NOTES:

  • Kurt Busch won the race when rain halted competition on lap 138
  • The race lasted two hours and  21 minutes
  • The race featured lead 17 changes among 11 drivers
  • The race was slowed by five cautions for 38 laps and included four red flags for rain
