MWR DOVER RESULTS:

9th        Clint Bowyer

13th      David Ragan

Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 AAA Insurance Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished ninth in Sunday’s 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 20th and drove into the top 10 by the halfway mark. A fast car and tire strategy paid dividends in the second half of the race as Bowyer led during a pit cycle and moved to fifth when the caution fell with 25 to go. Contact with Denny Hamlin and a tighter handling race car in the final laps that included a green-white-checkered finish, kept Bowyer from challenging for the victory. The No.15 team returns to action Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

  • Started 20th and finished ninth
  • Drove into the top 10 by the halfway mark
  • Moved to fifth with 25 laps remaining
  • Tighter handling conditions kept him from challenging for the victory in final laps

BOWYER: “The guys gave me an absolutely great AAA Insurance Toyota today. I feel bad there at the end. Denny and I had some contact. Hate that it ruined his day and I just wasn't handling the way I was earlier In those last few laps. We got ourselves a top 10 but we definitely wanted more.”

David Ragan Race Summary: No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota driver David Ragan finished 13th in Sunday’s 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway. Ragan started 15th and held that position the first half of the race, narrowly dodging spinning cars in a lap 175 multicar accident. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver ran a steady race turning fast lap times in clean air. The No. 55 climbed to 15th when the caution fell with 25 laps to go. Ragan battled for position in the final laps to finish 13th. The No. 55 team returns to action Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

  • Qualified 20th and finished 13th
  • Ran a consistent race posting fast lap times in clean air
  • Best finish of his three points races at MWR
  • Returns to action Sunday at Pocono Raceway

RAGAN: “I felt like we had about a 10th to 15th-place car on the short runs, but we were really good on the long runs. I felt like that was our strong suit. All of those cautions at the end didn’t really play into our favor, but I’m proud of everybody on the Aaron’s Dream Machine. We’ve just got to keep getting better throughout the course of a weekend. We’ve got some really good speed at times. Our pit crew did an amazing job.  We qualified well, but we’ve just got to keep getting better. In order to win these races you’ve got to be perfect.  It was a step in the right direction and hopefully we can learn from it and capitalize on the second Dover here in September.”
