   9th    Clint Bowyer

29th    Brett Moffitt

Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 AAA Insurance Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished ninth in Sunday’s rain-delayed NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 17th and climbed to fifth by lap 113 despite contact with Danica Patrick on pitlane. Bowyer stayed at the front of the field throughout the race but an untimely caution after a pit stop slowed his progress dropping him to 15th. He rallied back to 10th when the caution flew with 50 laps remaining and battled to ninth in the closing laps. The No.15 team returns to action Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway.

  • Started 17th and finished ninth
  • Moved from 17th to fifth by lap 113
  • Suffered damage in pit road contact with Danica Patrick
  • Untimely caution after pit stop slowed progress toward front
  • Clawed back in the final laps to finish ninth

BOWYER: How did you perform today?

"It was okay. After the start of the season we've had, it's starting to feel like a little bit of momentum and we've just got to keep digging."

Brett Moffitt Race Summary: No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Camry driver Brett Moffitt finished 29th in Sunday’s rain-delayed NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver qualified 14th and raced in 25th in the first half of the Toyota Owners 400. Moffitt battled several cars for the free pass in the race’s second half until a cut right front tire exiting pitlane on lap 270 forced him to pit road for repairs. The incident dropped the 22-year-old rookie three laps behind the leader which he never regained. The No. 55 team returns to action Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway when two-time Daytona 500 champion Michael Waltrip drives the Aaron’s Dream Machine.

  • Qualified 14th and finished 29th
  • Ran mid-pack the first half of 400-lap race
  • Fell off the lead lap on lap 233
  • At lap 270, valve stem problem on right front tire dropped him down three laps to leaders
  • Moffitt earned rookie of the race for the fifth consecutive race
  • Moffitt is 29th in driver points. No. 55 is 26th in owner points

MOFFITT: “That was a tough race. We were decent, but that valve stem issue ruined our day. Wish we could have avoided that trouble, but there isn’t much you can do when things like that happen.”
