MWR MARTINSVILLE RESULTS:

13th     Clint Bowyer

28th     Brett Moffitt

Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished 13th in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 30th and charged from the back of the pack, patiently picking off cars and climbing to sixth just past the halfway mark. Bowyer flirted with the top 10 throughout the race and only late race handling issued deprived him of his seventh consecutive top-10 at Martinsville. Bowyer had struggled in qualifying and practice on Friday and Saturday but he looked like one of the fastest cars on the track at times during Sunday’s race. The No.15 team returns to action Saturday, April 11 at Texas Motor Speedway.

  • Started 30th and finished 13th
  • 10th by lap 190 and sixth just after the halfway mark
  • Raced in 11th with 100 laps to go
  • Bowyer is 19th in the Chase Standings

BOWYER: “We worked hard all weekend for that finish. I'm real proud of Brian Pattie and the guys. We just missed getting a top-10 finish for the 5-hour ENERGY Toyota. I just got too loose at the end but proud of our effort. Congrats to Toyota on the win.”

Brett Moffitt Race Summary: No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Camry driver Brett Moffitt battled back from early adversity to finish 28th in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver qualified 33rd  and climbed to 23rd in the first 50 laps. Moffitt’s day took a turn for the worse on lap 65 when his car suffered hood damage in a collision on the crowded, half-mile Virginia track. Moffitt lost five laps to the leaders and dropped to 43rd when he pitted for repairs. The Aaron’s team never gave up and Moffitt turned impressive lap times as he regained one of the lost laps before climbing to 28th when the checkered flag fell. The No. 55 team returns to action Saturday, April 11 at Texas Motor Speedway.

  • Qualified 33rd and finished 28th
  • Suffered hood damage on lap 65
  • Dropped to 43rd and fell five laps behind the leaders
  • Turned great lap times in the remaining laps and moved from 43rd to 28th
  • No. 55 team is 24th in owner points; Moffitt is 30th in driver points.

MOFFITT: “I’m disappointed we got caught up in that mess early and damaged the hood. That set us back obviously, but the Aaron’s Dream Machine was pretty good after that especially on the long green flag runs. The guys told me the lap times were really good. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. It’s cool to see Toyota and Denny return to victory lane.”
