Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished 17th in Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 14th and held his own in the early going but sustained damage in a lap 125 multicar accident. The No. 15 crew made several stops to repair the damage, managing to stay on the lead lap throughout the repairs. As the race went on, however, the leaders blistering pace dropped Bowyer off the lead lap with 150 laps remaining. The No. 15 moved into position to earn the free pass in the closing laps but the race ran caution free. The No. 15 team returns to action Sunday night at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

• Started 14th and finished 17th

• Was caught up in a multicar wreck on lap 125

• Despite repairs, managed to stay on the lead lap

• Leaders pace dropped him off lead lap with 150 laps remaining

BOWYER: “We were overheating early in the race and had to come in to pit to take tape off. That put us back in the pack a little bit and we got caught up in someone else's mess. That's what happens at tracks like this. One little mistake and it can ruin your night. We were able to salvage a decent finish but we were looking for something better for this 5-hour ENERGY Toyota.”

Brian Vickers Race Summary: No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine driver Brian Vickers finished 21st in Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 15th and overcame early handling problems and damage suffered in a lap 125 accident. Major chassis changes kept Vickers on the lead lap and pit strategy moved him to fifth by lap 225. After turning in several of the fastest laps on the track, the No. 55 raced 15th with 110 laps remaining. But hopes for a great finish ended when a tire vibration forced a green flag pit stop on lap 393, dropping Vickers two laps behind the leader. Vickers could not make up the lost laps and finished 21st. The No. 55 Aaron’s team returns to action Sunday night at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

• Started 15th and finished 21st

• Overcame handling issues and a lap 125 accident that caused damage

• Chassis changes and pit strategy enabled Vickers to climb to fifth on lap 225

• Turned fastest laps on the track several times late in the race

• Raced 15th when vibration forced green flag stop dropping him two laps behind leader

VICKERS: “That was a tough night for the Aaron’s Dream Machine. We worked all night and kept getting our Toyota better and better. Our car was great when it would come to me but it just took too long to come to me. We were working on that and were sitting decent for the finish but the green flag stop just killed us. At the end we had a good car but just two laps down.”

  • The race lasted two hours and 52 minutes
  • The race featured 16 lead changes among nine drivers
