Brian Vickers Race Summary: No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine driver Brian Vickers finished 10th in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 12th and held his position in the early going. Vickers told the Aaron’s crew that his car handled well on the high-speed road course as he climbed to 10th by lap 41. After pitting, Vickers raced in 15th with five laps remaining then climbed to 12th a lap later when an accident brought out a second red flag of the day. A restart with two to go saw Vickers race to 10th. The No. 55 Aaron’s team returns to action Sunday at Michigan International Speedway.

  • Started 12th and finished 10th
  • Moved to 10th by lap 41
  • Pit crew turned extremely fast stops throughout race
  • Restarted race in 15th with five laps remaining and moved to 12th a lap later when the race was red flagged for a second time
  • Moved from 12th to 10th in the final two laps.

VICKERS: “It was a really wild day. Billy (Scott, crew chief) and all of these guys did an awesome job. Pit stops were great, calls were good and we had a good car. We know where we got beat and we’ll work on that and we’ll come back. We came in and we pitted there at the end and I think it was the right call. Billy made a good decision with the information that he had and low and behold we had I think 20 laps of caution and red flags. How are you supposed to know that? Should’ve had a top-five and we got a top-10 but that’s okay.”

Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 RK Motors Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished 27th in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 24th and moved as high as 12th. He pitted for tires and fuel and restarted 18th with five laps to go. A red flag stopped the action a lap later with Bowyer in 17th. The restart with two laps remaining saw Bowyer maintain his position until Aric Almirola spun him on the final lap dropping him to 27th. The No. 15 team returns to action Sunday at Michigan International Speedway.

  • Started 24th and finished 27th
  • Moved to front of the field by mid-race
  • Restarted 18th with 5 laps remaining and 17th with three laps to go
  • Spun by another car on the final lap

BOWYER: “It looked like we were going to get a top-15 but we got spun on the last lap and that ruined our finish.”
