CORNELIUS, N.C. —   Clint Bowyer recorded his seventh top-10 finish of the season last weekend in a rain-shortened race at Daytona International Speedway where he finished ninth. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver in his No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota will look to add to that total when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend.

The Kansas native has multiple wins at the mile oval (September 2010 and September 2007). Adding to that total would go a long way to help solidify Bowyer’s position in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Currently, he occupies the 15th of 16 spots, seven points out of 14th. While a win in the Granite State wouldn’t necessarily guarantee a spot in the Chase, it certainly would make for a rock solid chance to lock in.

What does it take to get around New Hampshire?

“Two things -- you’ve got to be able to roll the middle with momentum faster than the next guy and you’ve got to be able to put that throttle down. Those are two hard things to do. You get the thing to where it will really roll the middle good and it’s pretty free and now you’re too loose up off. You get the thing tightened up in the center and now you can’t get off the corner right to pass anybody. It’s a really, really hard thing to juggle right there and it’s all hubbed around the center of the apex of that long corner.”

What did you do with the lobster trophies from New Hampshire?

“It’s hanging on my wall right next to my trophy animals -- I figure it’s a trophy right. I have four or five deer heads on the wall, a couple elk heads and my lobster. Everybody is like, ‘I get it, I get it, I get it, why is that there?’  Hey, it’s a trophy.”

CHASSIS

Chassis No. 798 serves as the primary chassis for Bowyer at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The chassis also served as Bowyer’s primary at Phoenix (13th), California (16th) and Richmond (43rd) earlier this year. The team also tested the chassis last week at Loudon.

Chassis No. 795 serves as the back-up chassis. This chassis served as back up at several races, most recently at Pocono in June.
